We've created the following New User Orientation to help you get started with using QuoTrek for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. QuoTrek is free to download and use with delayed snapshot data. Real-time streaming data is available with a paid subscription. Register for a real-time account.
Installation
Install QuoTrek via iTunes, using a PC or Mac. You can also install QuoTrek by visiting the App Store on your device. Tap the Search button and enter the word, quotrek.

Click the word FREE; then, INSTALL. You'll need to enter your iTunes password to install any app, including QuoTrek.

Once QuoTrek has been installed, you'll see the following window showing the QuoTrek icon:

Username and Password
Once you've registered for a real-time account, you'll be given a Username (Login ID) and Password. Tap the iPhone Settings menu (just above the QuoTrek icon pictured above). In the iPhone Settings menu, scroll to the bottom and tap QuoTrek.

Enter your Username (Login ID) and Password. If you're using free delayed snapshot data only, you can bypass this step.

Markets Window
When you first launch QuoTrek, the Markets screen will open by default. In the upper portion of the screen, you'll find a scrolling ticker of various instrument types. Using the right and left arrows, you can choose from Market Update, World Markets, Forex and Futures. The sample ticker symbols will adjust according to the instrument type selected. If you select Forex, you'll see currencies displayed. Market Update will display popular equity indices, and so forth.

News Headlines and Stories
In the lower half of the screen, you'll find a list of news headlines. Using the right and left arrows, you can choose to display various news categories, such as Top Stories, Breaking News, Economic News, Asian Market, European Market, Industry News, General News and Stocks to Watch. Scroll down to reveal more headlines.

Tap the headline to access the corresponding story. The blue circle indicates that a story is available for that headline. In some cases, only a headline is displayed.

A list view of the news categories is also available. To access this feature, click News from the Main Menu at the bottom of the screen.

Main Menu
At the bottom of each screen, you'll find the main menu. This menu will allow you to navigate to other screens, such as Markets, Watch List, Quotes, News and Hot Lists. If you're using the free version of QuoTrek, you'll see a banner ad just above the main menu. Also, there is an icon (circular arrow) to refresh the delayed snapshot data.

If you have a real-time streaming account, the banner ads are removed. Instead, you'll see a small button (i), which takes you to information about the product.

The (i) button takes you to the About screen, which provides the QuoTrek version and build number you've installed.

Watch List
From the main menu, select Watch List to access a list of symbols that you wish to follow. You can create up to 5 separate Watch Lists with 40 symbols in each for a total of 200 symbols. Scroll down to access more symbols. Scroll right to access additional Watch Lists. The Watch List includes the Last Price, Change/Percent Change (calculated from Previous Close) and Time of Update. A red or green arrow indicates if the symbol is up or down compared to the prior trading day.

To delete symbols from your Watch List, click the Edit button in the top left corner. On the corresponding screen, tap the minus (-) sign; then delete. Tap Done in the top right corner to complete this action.
Symbol Lookup
To add symbols to your Watch List, click the plus (+) sign in the top right corner.
This will bring up the Symbol Lookup menu. The Symbol Lookup can also be accessed from the Quotes screen by clicking "Symbol" in the top right corner. Enter the description of the instrument you wish to add. A list of possible entries will be displayed. Tap the line of the symbol you wish to add.
