You can visit our handy symbol lookup. We also have other resources that are helpful in locating symbols, such as our Symbol Directory and Symbol Format page.
The format for futures is as follows:
Root symbol, a space, month code, then last digit of the year.
(Example: ES Z9 represents the December 2009 contract for the S&P E-minis.)
Portfolio
You can easily track your symbols by entering them into the Portfolio window. To add a new symbol, double click an empty row under the "Symbol" field. Type the new symbol and press "Enter".

Right click any symbol to access a menu that will allow you to:
Edit Symbol: This function allows you to change the existing symbol.
Insert Row: This one inserts an empty row where your cursor is highlighted.
Delete Row: "Delete Row" deletes an existing row.
Clear Row: This is the function that removes the existing symbol but keeps a blank row intact.
Column Header
Each column header is referred to as a field. Right click an existing field to access the following menu:

Insert: This inserts an empty column where your cursor is highlighted.
Delete: This function deletes an existing column.
Clear: "Clear" removes the existing symbol but keeps a blank column intact.
Sort: You can sort all the symbols in your portfolio in either ascending or descending order.
Fields: Choose from more than 30 custom fields, which can be added to your portfolio screen. Included is the option to "Add all available fields".
Multiple Portfolios
MarketCenter LIVE allows up to 10 separate portfolios. Each portfolio can have a distinct set of symbols and columns. This information is stored on our servers so that you can retrieve your portfolios on any PC that you are logged into. In the bottom left corner of the screen, use the drop-down menu to toggle between portfolios.

Color and Font Menu
Also in the bottom left, you'll find a "Menu" button. Click the "Menu" button, then "Settings", to edit the color and font size of your portfolio. You can choose from 7 default color schemes in addition to 4 choices for font size.

Chart Window
MarketCenter LIVE offers streaming, real-time charts with more than 15 technical analysis studies. Line, Bar, Candlestick and Area chart types are also available.
To open a new chart, right click an existing symbol in your portfolio and select "Chart". Alternatively, you can click the "Streaming Charts" button at the bottom of the screen.

In the top left portion of the chart, you’ll find an area to change the symbol and interval. To change the symbol, highlight the existing symbol and replace it with the new symbol. Click "int" to access the "Interval" menu. Minute intervals (i.e., 1, 5, 15, 60), along with Daily (D), Weekly (W) and Monthly (M) intervals, are available. At the top of the chart, you’ll also find icons to switch the chart type from Candlestick to Bar to Line Chart. Additionally, there are icons to toggle the Cursor and Volume on or off.
Adding a Study
To add a study, click the + button and choose from the drop-down menu. You can add multiple studies and later delete them using the "X" button. In this example, we’ll add a Moving Average.

Once the study has been added, you can make changes to the color and study properties by clicking on the values highlighted in the box shown below. Here, we’ll set the Moving Average (MA) length to 15 and change the color to green.

Snap Quote
The Snap Quote offers the ability to pull up several fields on a single symbol. To access this feature, right click an existing symbol in your portfolio and select "Snap Quote".

Time and Sales
The Time and Sales window provides a tabular display of trades and bid / ask quotes. The fields include "Time", "Price", "Size" and "Exchange". To access this feature, right click a symbol in your portfolio and select "Time and Sales". Alternatively, you can click the "Time and Sales" button in the bottom portion of the screen.

Streaming News
MarketCenter LIVE offers a number of real-time, streaming news services. For a complete list, please visit the News and Commentary Pricing page.
To view the headlines for a particular symbol, right click on the symbol on your Quote window and choose "News".

This will open a Streaming News window and display the most recent headlines. Click on any headline to read the full text story (where available).

You can also click on the "News" tab in the lower right corner of the streaming Quote window. This will also activate the Streaming News window and let you choose from the services drop-down menu, enter a symbol or choose a keyword to search on. Click "Go" to search our servers.

Adjusting the Window
As with most other window types, you can stretch, minimize or maximize the Streaming News window. The scroll bar on the right automatically adjusts according to how much information is available to view.
The four columns ("Time", "Service", "Symbols" and "Headline") can be narrowed or widened by moving the mouse over each vertical line in the header until the cursor changes to two arrows, and you then hold the left mouse button down to stretch the line. These adjustments are NOT saved when you exit the program, so you'll see the default layout each time you open the News window.
News History
The News window will display news dating back to 60 days or the last 75 headlines. For an active security, such as IBM, 75 headlines may be just a day or two of news. For a lesser-known security, the 75 headlines may take you back the full 60 days. This just depends on how many sources you are pulling from and how active that company has been in the news.
Tip: To see news further back in time, try reducing the sources to just one. That should expand the 75 headlines to cover more days.
Option Chains
Option chains are available as an add-on service. To access this window, right click a symbol in your portfolio and select "Option Chain". You may also access this window by clicking "Option Chains" from the bottom menu.

Once you have launched the Option Chain window, you can enter a new symbol in the top left corner. You can also use the drop-down menu to select a different month of expiration.

Similar to the Portfolio window, each column header is referred to as a field. Right click an existing field to access the following menu:

Insert: This function inserts an empty column where your cursor is highlighted.
Delete: This one deletes an existing column.
Clear: This removes the existing symbol but keeps a blank column intact.
Sort: "Sort" allows you to sort all the symbols in your portfolio in either ascending or descending order.
Fields: Choose from more than 30 custom fields, which can be added to your portfolio screen. Included is the option to "Add all available fields".
