eSignal 11 -- Hot Lists
Hot Lists are powerful pre-built scans that look through the markets to identify the best trading opportunities and update them automatically every 30 seconds. The traditional gainers, losers and volume lists are joined by other unique scans, such as Unusual Volume, Most Volatile and Trade Rate Hot Lists, the last of which displays the fastest trading stocks in the last minute and allows a momentum trader to see what is moving right now and react accordingly.
As you can see, the Hot List appears in a spreadsheet format with the symbols listed by Value. The Value is dependent on the Hot List selected. To avoid the inclusion of thinly traded equities, only equities that trade at least 100,000 shares with at least 50 transactions will be included in the results although some exceptions may apply. Hot Lists begin to calculate at market open (9:30 a.m. ET) with some lists continuing to update with post market activity (NASD Trade Rate, for example). Pre-market activity is not included.
Hot List Configuration
On the Title Bar at the top of each Hot List, you'll be able to customize each scan by choosing from Stock or Index, selecting a specific exchange for your scan, and, finally, choosing a Hot List.
Editing Columns
As in the Watch List, you can change the order of the column headings by clicking and dragging. Left click any column and drag right or left to move to a new position. You can also add to or remove columns from the Hot List window by right clicking the mouse over one of the existing headings and selecting Add Column or Remove (field). Once the columns have been added or removed, you can arrange the columns to best fit the width.

Other Features
By default, the Hot List data is set as Dynamic, which means that all symbols will be streaming in real time. You can set the data to be Static by clicking Hot List in the top menu bar and un-checking Dynamic. If you set the data to Static mode, the symbols will not update in real time and they will not be counted against your symbol limit.
For example, the image below shows a Trade Rate Hot List window in a summary mode, set to display a total of 100 symbols in the result. The window is in a Dynamic mode because it shows some symbol cells flashing.

Another function you can find under Hot List in the top menu bar is the option to change the display to Summary, which displays multiple column headings in the same row. There is also the option to Select All and Copy, which will allow you to select and copy all symbols from the Hot List, so you can paste them into a Watch List.
Also, you will have access to the Properties so that you can customize the window for colors and fonts. The functions that offer the ability to Undo / Redo the last task are very useful for quickly backing out errors.
