eSignal Trading Integration Overview
Many of you participated in a survey to help us guide the future of our integrated trading features in eSignal. Thank you for your initial feedback. We've received many valuable responses to date but would like to offer all of you the opportunity to participate in the survey before we close it. It will take just a few minutes. Based on the responses we've received so far, we have learned that we need to offer more information about how you can trade with your favorite broker within eSignal because many of you are not yet aware of our trading integration offering and its many benefits.
One of the points we’d like to clarify is that trading integration comes with NO additional cost. It is absolutely free to use. All you need is a broker account from one of our participating broker partners.
Not only is it free to use, but it can save you money, too.
If you use trading integration and trade on any of the following exchanges -- CBOT, CME, COMEX and / or NYMEX -- you can subscribe to the CME Group Fee-Waived Globex bundle and save the cost of these exchange fees. Also, if you are using eSignal OnDemand - Mini Futures, there is a special CME Mini Fee Waiver bundle. Other benefits of using trading integration in eSignal include access to the following features:
DOM Display. Some of you expressed interest in trading from a DOM window. This is also known as a “ladder”; it displays depth of market data. The eSignal application has an excellent DOM that you can trade from directly. In the eSignal application, the window type is called “Trade Manager”. This window can be found under the File > New menu or from the New Window icon on the eSignal toolbar. You can trade directly from this window and easily manage positions.
Trading from the charts. Trading directly from the charts is also possible. The positions and working orders will appear on the chart, which can be easily managed as well. Working orders can be quickly modified in both windows by clicking and dragging the orders to a new price level. Clicking the "X" icon next to the labels on the chart offers a quick way to cancel an order or close a position.
Single-click or button trading. Currently, there is a method that can accomplish this. We'll certainly look at ways to improve this area in future development, but in the current version, you can use the Attached Order Ticket.
Order ticket designer. The Attached Order Ticket is a customizable trading window that can be attached to any window in your page. Simply highlight the window you would like to add the order ticket to and select Attach Order Ticket from the Trade menu.
Also, under the Trade menu is the Order Ticket Designer, which allows you to create custom trading buttons. By clicking these trade buttons, you can submit orders with a single left click. To have these orders submitted after this single-click event, you will also need to turn off order confirmations under the Trade menu for your default broker.
By default, confirmations are enabled, which would bring up the Order Ticket to confirm the order before submitting to your broker.
Order Ticket Designer
Forex traders. For Forex traders, we also have a Forex window that is enabled for integrated trading. Simply double click on the Bid or Ask fields to generate an order. If confirmations are disabled, the order will be submitted. When confirmations are enabled, the double-click event will generate an order ticket to confirm the order before submitting.
The default parameters for your orders can be predefined through the Order Defaults window under the Trade menu. Order defaults can be set for specific symbols or asset classes.
Lastly, any window that displays the Last, Bid or Ask fields can be double clicked to submit orders as well.
