The Watch List Window
The Watch List allows you to track your symbols in a spreadsheet format. The Column Headings can all be customized with drag-and-drop functionality supported. To open a Watch List window, go to the main menu and select New; then click Watch List.

Once a new Watch List opens, enter a new symbol by clicking on any empty row under the Symbol column. Type the symbol and click Enter. The Watch List window title bar contains two boxes, Symbol List and Headings. It also contains two buttons; the first button is Summary Mode, which is used to change the display of the Watch List. The second is Column Data Sort.

The Symbol List drop-down menu stores sample and user-created symbol lists. Create a new Symbol List by selecting New List from the menu (as illustrated in the screenshot shown below). Once you have entered all your symbols, select Save List to ensure that all your work is saved. In this menu, you will find the option to Rename, Duplicate and Remove List.

The Headings box allows you to select from a list of pre-set headings designed for stocks, futures, options and other contract types. You can also create and save new custom headings, as well as rename, duplicate or remove existing ones.

In the headings menu, you'll find an option to select Portfolio, Price and Quantity for keeping track of shares purchased and sold.

Once Portfolio is selected, enter the symbols you wish to track. When you are ready to enter a new position, double click the row of one of the symbols you have entered. In the prompt (as in the screenshot provided below), you'll be able to specify Quantity, Action (Long versus Short positions), as well as Entry and Exit Price.

The Summary Mode button allows you to toggle the display of the Watch List between Standard Mode and the Summary Mode.

Standard Mode displays the symbols vertically under a single Sym (Symbol) column. Summary Mode displays multiple column headings in the same row, allowing more symbols to be displayed in the same space.
The column data sort or sorting panel allows you to sort by multiple column headings. Select your primary sort criteria (Sort by), followed by two additional criteria (then by and finally by).

You can also sort manually by left clicking the mouse once you are in the column heading you want to sort. Sorting is done alphabetically for fields that contain text and numerically for data fields. Click Watch List from the main menu to undo or redo sorting.

Customizing Columns in the Watch List
To add a new column to the Watch List, right click the mouse over an existing field and select Add Columns to open the list of available columns. Once the field has been added to the window, you can click and drag the new column to set the order of the columns.
Studies / Formulas in a Watch List
One of the most useful features to come out of eSignal 11 is the ability to put your studies and formulas into your Watch List. Any technical indicator that eSignal carries can now be loaded; even Add-On and custom EFS formulas!
Once you insert your favorite study into your Watch List, you can create custom scanners by sorting lists of symbols with an unlimited number of possible trade setups. EFS and Add-On Studies (e.g., the Arps Trender, as shown below) can even provide Buy / Sell signals. You can add a study or formula to your Watch List in the same way you would add a new column. Right click an existing column header and select Add Columns. You'll notice tabs for Built-in Studies, Formulas and Add-on Studies (subscription based).
Select the study you wish to add and click Apply. Multiple studies can be added from this menu.

Click Close once you're done adding studies. The selected studies will appear in your Watch List.

You can change the parameters of the studies in the Watch List by right clicking on the column header and then selecting Format Columns.
In the Format Columns window, select the study you would like to edit.

Watch List Right-Click Functions
You can copy and paste symbols, insert and delete rows, as well as insert a Hot List or Sector List, by right clicking the mouse inside the Watch List window. Right click any symbol in the Watch List to open a chart or a Time & Sales or Market Depth window.

Watch List Properties
Right click the Watch List and select Properties to access the Watch List Properties menu. The Properties menu will display settings for the Default Cell, Symbol Field, Comment, Gridlines and Direction.
Default Cell
The Default Cell menu allows you to specify the font type and size, along with bolding and italics. Color settings include Text and Background. Background #2 is checked if you prefer alternating colors for each row. Additionally, you can edit the text and background colors for triggered alerts.

Symbol Field
Change fonts and colors, and toggle between displaying the symbol or description of the listed issues. Background #2 is checked if you prefer alternating colors for each row. You can also check the box to opt to Show Symbol as Description, which will display the description versus the symbol.

Comment
In a Watch List, you can enter comments that can serve as category names. You add comments by entering a # sign followed by the text. In the example shown below, "Major U.S. Crosses" has been entered as a comment:

The Comment menu allows you to specify the font type and size, as well as bolding and italics. You can edit text and background colors here as well.

Grid Lines
Use this menu to add vertical and horizontal gridlines and to customize the gridline color.

Direction
Change the color and display for when a tick is up or down using this menu. The Color field allows you to choose a column (Symbol, Last, Change, All Cells) for the color display, which is based on Net Change. Green (up) indicates a positive change; red (down) indicates a negative change and grey (zero) indicates no change. Tick display allows you to toggle between using arrows or +/- for changes up and down.
