A: There are several ways to monitor symbol-based news in eSignal:

• Right click on the symbol in your Quote window and select News to view all the news for a particular symbol.
• Click on the News Headlines Count field in the Quote Window to bring up all of today’s news headlines for a particular symbol.
• Set up the news ticker to track news on the issue(s) you are monitoring and watch news updates as they come through the news ticker.
• Set a news alert on a particular symbol and be alerted to news on the issue via audible or visual alerts on your desktop, email or your cell phone.
• Go to the News Manager and perform a search by symbol.

Q. What is the function of the News Headlines Count in eSignal?
A: The eSignal News Headline Count field can be displayed in the Quote window. The field displays the number of headlines that have been received for a particular issue. The count is bold when you first start up eSignal and goes dim once you click on the field to look at the headlines. You can set the field to dim after a certain period of time. The default is 3 minutes, but you can set it from 1 to 60 minutes. Once dim, the count changes to bold when a new headline comes in, and the timer re-sets for that symbol each time there is a new headline.

Q. How does the News Alert feature work in eSignal?
A: The News Alert feature allows you to set an alert on a particular symbol. When news is received on that symbol, based on your settings, you will be alerted via a pop-up window or through an audible alert. You can also customize eSignal to send the news alert to your cell phone. News alerts can also be set to appear in the ticker window.

Q. Can I customize the news ticker?
A: eSignal allows you to display news headlines and / or news alerts in the Ticker window. eSignal also allows you to customize the ticker to display news headlines by symbol or service. The ticker can also be set to scroll headlines vertically or horizontally. By clicking on a headline in the ticker, you can view the story.

A: Yes, the News Manager allows you to view news by service. You can also filter by service in the news ticker.

Q. Can I perform complex searches?
A: Yes, the News Manager allows you to search by symbol, service, keyword or category, and you can combine the variables to perform complex searches. These search routines can be saved, so you can regularly search on a set of predefined criteria.

Q. Can I search on a subject, such as earnings?
A: Yes, the News Manager allows you to search by keyword. Find out which companies have posted earnings by entering “earnings” as the keyword.

Q. How do I access the Dow Jones Hot News?
A: eSignal contains a Dow Jones Hot News icon on the toolbar that allows easy access to the Dow Jones Hot News category. Just click the icon and bring up today’s top news.
